Midcentury modern interior design
Breath of Fire and Water, Kipling Beardsley 2025

ackerman Inspiration

In partnership with Laura Ackerman-Shaw and Docomomo US/MN, Kip created a work drawing from the genius of midcentury designers Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman. The patterns, colors, and movement of Evelyn Ackerman's 1957 Hot Bird mosaic, were influential as Kip wove a piece entitled Breath of Fire and Water. The piece depicts healing power of energies seen and unseen.

The piece is woven in wool, measures approximately 24x48 inches and is a combination of card weaving and draw loom techniques.

This piece is up for auction and 50% of the net proceeds over the minimum bid will be donated to further the work of Docomomo US/MN as part of a weekend celebrating the Ackermans.
